Lamu
is 40 minutes flying time from Malindi. Lamu town was established on its
present site in the 14th Century, but there had been people living on the
Island for a much longer time. The port of Lamu was an important trading
center in the 18th Century but lost its commercial position to Mombasa to
retain the dhow culture of travel. Now you can find there one of the last
remnants of the Swahili civilization. Lamu itself is fascinating and a
stroll through the old streets is a must with no monuments, but hundreds of
ancient houses. The museum is not to be missed and very few towns in Africa
have kept their original town plans intact. Lamu beach is spectacular and
Shela Beach one of the best in the world.Day 1:
Morning transfer at 11.30 am from Hotel to Malindi Airport, Flight to Lamu, Arrival and boat transfer to Lamu Island, Check in at Hotel, cocktail welcome, briefing and proceed for a historical town tour, Lunch at Lamu Palace Hotel, Afternoon leisure at Manda beach, Evening Sea food Dinner, Overnight at Lamu Palace.
Day 2 :
Breakfast, 3hrs)Dhow tour along the Lamu coast & Matandoni island, Lunch at Lamu Palace Hotel, Afternoon at Leisure, Dinner and overnight at Lamu Palace.
Day 3 :
Breakfast, Visit Manda Beach for leisure, Lunch at own cost, Afternoon transfer to the Airstrip, Return flight to Malindi at 12.30 pm.
